Light Limits: Minor Visuals Update (v1.01)

Small update to make the game look like how it should've! No more hard-on-the-eyes lighting!

I will continue playing around with lighting and shadows, since they're still giving me a lot of trouble, and this game is the perfect starting point to see what I can improve with it.

Also good job to everyone who participated in the Newbies 2023 Jam! It was really fun working on this project and seeing what everyone else created.

Changelog (v1.01):

  • New ZIP Downloadable (no WebGL changes atm; WebGL has a limited color space so I'm not sure about a workaround atm)
  • Fixed lights not detecting the player correctly sometimes even though player was clearly in the light radius
  • Other boss model no longer falls through ground
  • Lowered shadow resolution (last level still does not look good with multiple lights)
    • Lights / Shadows optimization on objects that don't even need lights+shadows on them
  • Color settings set from Gamma -> Linear (lighting looks softer + more accurate) [see photos below]
  • Some slight level lighting changes.

Before/After #1:

Before
Before: Lighting is high-contrast. Rough on the eyes. Unexpected changes happened before submission.

After
After: Light colors are more gradual as they spread further out.

Before/After #2:

Before
Before: Light range ambiguous, player is in light but visually does not seem to be.

After
After: Same angle/position as before, but with better visuals on where light starts/ends.

Check out the download below if you wanna try these changes out!
